A Compassion-Based
program

Jeanine truly believes that the best way she can help create a more compassionate world is to help raise compassionate children.  She cares deeply about helping children foster both love and kindness for themselves, for others, for animals, and for the planet.

 

At our school:

​

-The whole child is nurtured with respect and compassion

-​​​Children feel valued and loved simply for being alive

-Children will have a teacher who can be present with them through big emotions, and teach them skills to learn to self-regulate

-Pro-social values are emphasized on a daily basis. This includes cooperation, generosity, sharing, kindness, responsibility, helping/comforting, gratitude, and empathy.

-Guidance and discipline are provided using strategies rooted in compassion

-Children will learn to celebrate differences in a classroom that promotes inclusivity and equity​

-Children will participate in a loving-kindness practice together each morning

Recently the Multnomah County Health Inspector visited our school for our annual health inspection.  While he normally comes on a non-school day, this year he visited our school while the children were present.  As he left, he made a genuine remark that our school was the kindest school, with the most caring kiddos, that he has ever visited.  This is not the first time Jeanine has received this type of feedback about The Strawberry Patch; teaching young children about compassion does have an impact.
